INTERMEDIATE PROGRAM 1 - WEEK 5 (5-9 August 2024)
Contemporary technique class with Rakesh Sukesh
Payatt INtransit" is a contemporary movement technique that merges movement principles from the ancient Indian martial art form of Kalaripayattu with yogic practices, pranayama (breath work), and energy work to activate the body's energy sources. This comprehensive approach trains practitioners in a manner that is safe, organic, and yet rigorous, empowering them to become more confident, relaxed, flexible, and powerful. By incorporating pranayama, this training not only sharpens reflexes but also deepens our connection to our breath, enhancing our ability to cultivate a constant sense of inner calm amidst physical exertion.
The class challenges both our physical and mental limits, encouraging us to be quick and energetic in our movements while maintaining a state of mental calmness and relaxation, undisturbed by the intensity of physical activity. Through the practice of pranayama, we learn to control our breath, which in turn helps us to isolate the intense physical aspect of the class from the constant calm within. This empowers us to gain complete control over our movements rather than being controlled by them, enhancing our ability to adapt to unexpected situations and make innovative yet efficient choices. By combining our physical energy with the energy around us, and integrating the power of controlled breathing, we achieve a harmonious balance of body and mind.

Yoga class with Stéphane Bourhis
The teaching of Yoga following the BKS Iyengar methodology is based in depth practice of yoga postures and pranayama (art of breathing), with rigorously, intensity and precision of the body alignments. During the class we gradually explore the outer and the inner geometry of the body in different groups of postures and movements.
Workshop 'Play Full Body' and 'The Courage to create' with Laura Aris
The workshop is designed to be a playful physical journey but focused on mental challenges and the explicit goals of artistic expression and creativity. We will change the prism by searching for different ways of looking at movement and its qualities.
An invitation to explore a space that is neither too new nor too familiar, but something in between; like walking with a compass but without a map.
Guided improvisations and specific technical exercises will be the work's starting point, mainly in pairs and groups. During the workshop, we often switch roles from the performer (creator) to the observer (audience) so that different questions and insights may arise. Participants will play with their vocabulary within defined but changing contexts to experiment and observe specific bodily mechanisms and mental processes while dancing. Opening the doors of perception, we will search for those creative impulses that, once released, offer opportunities for new technical and performative achievements.
Fuel your imagination with a rich tapestry of sensory experiences, allowing you to draw from an extensive palette of emotions and ideas in your practice. Play Full Body workshop celebrates artistic freedom, encouraging you to develop your creative abilities and embrace the beauty of experimentation and uncertainty.
Key Concepts include Embracing Creative Autonomy, Fostering Imagination, Objective vs. Subjective Perspectives, Creative Laboratories, Courage to Create, and ParticipantCentered Exploration.
