Nathan Ooms / The Honey House
THE HONEY HOUSE
In The Honey House five performers unfold a range of actions and gestures that emerge from a context characterized by competition, self-enhancement and constant time pressure. The contemporary moment is marked by mixed feelings: shocked but bored, ambitious but cynical, highly connected but miserably individual, tireless but exhausted. The promise of the good life functions as a gym without exit; gain and pain succeed one another in an ever-accelerating loop of intensity. What kind of bodies, subjectivities and relationships does this produce? And how could we resist them?

Nathan Ooms joined the STUDIOS program at P.A.R.T.S. in 2019 after obtaining a masters degree in Drama at KASK School of Arts in Ghent. During this course in theatre making, he started an ongoing collaboration with Anna Franziska Jäger, Bartlebabe (2021) being their most recent creation. During his studies he did an internship with Ula Sickle for the creation of Relay (2018) and worked as a performer with Marc Vanrunxt (Drawings, 2019) and others. He’s also part of Ne Mosquito Pas, a platform for performance artists who gather to exploit their bad ideas. The STUDIOS program at P.A.R.T.S. offered Nathan the possibility to focus on questioning and developing choreography as mode of creation within his practice.
