Stefa Govaart BE

Stefa Govaart works at the intersection of dance, performance, theory and poetry. They hold an MA in Cultural Analysis from the University of Amsterdam, having previously studied at P.A.R.T.S. As a dancer and performer, they work in the theater as well as the visual art context (Eszter Salamon, Adriano Wilfert Jensen, Claudia Pagès Rabal, Mathias Ringgenberg/PRICE a.o.). Govaart is active in different educational contexts (P.A.R.T.S., Gerrit Rietveld Academie). With Bojana Cvejić, Andrea Rodrigo and Nikhil Vettukattil, they organize Spring Meeting at Performing Arts Forum (France). They co-founded the research group Sex Negativity and seminar series We Have Never Had Sex at the Amsterdam School for Cultural Analysis. Their current project––Fang (The Book of Psalms)––rewrites the 150 psalms of the Bible with the help of the 27 English translations available at biblehub.com. With Marija Cetinić, they work on a book project: Sentence / Essence / Woman / Negation / Sex.
